TORONTO – CTV on Thursday launched a new user-generated news website, MyNews.ctv.ca.
Canadians are now able to upload interesting video or images to MyNews.CTV.ca for consideration for broadcast on local or national newscasts as a complement to CTV-generated news footage.
CTV said its newsrooms across the country will monitor all of the content posted to MyNews.CTV.ca to determine its news value.
“News happens anywhere, anytime, and this is a perfect way for Canadians to help us share any breaking news they are witnessing, as it occurs, with the rest of the country and the world,” said Mark Sikstrom, executive producer of CTV.ca. “This site will work well with CTV’s newsgathering and provide a first-hand perspective on newsworthy events from those first on the scene.”
MyNews.CTV.ca will contain a daily list of the recent video and images submitted – giving Canadians an opportunity to see raw, uncut coverage of breaking news happening at home and around the world.
