TORONTO – CTV and its Bell Globemedia sister networks TSN, RDS, Discovery Channel and The Comedy Network have been honored with 22 Awards recognizing excellence in promotion and design at the 2005 Promax and BDA Awards held last week in New York City.
Leading the pack with nine awards (four Gold, five Silver) was CTV. Included in the mix was a BDA Gold Medal for Best Art Direction and Design for CTV’s "CTV is #1 Image Spot". Another three Golds were awarded to CTV for efforts in local markets Edmonton (1) and Montreal (2).
In specialty, Canada’s sports leader TSN led the way bringing home six awards, including Gold Medals for "Best Editing" and "Best Campaign" for its "This Is My SportsCentre" campaign. French-language specialty RDS also grabbed three awards while Discovery Channel Canada earned two, including Gold for its Mars Live campaign. The Comedy Network also pulled in two awards, including Silver for its campaign surrounding original series Puppets Who Kill series.
Unlike other broadcasters in North America and around the world, CTV Inc. creates 100% of its on-air and external print and promotional campaigns through its own award winning, in-house creative services and on-air promotion departments.
The departments operate under the leadership of two of Canada’s most talented broadcast professionals, Jon Arklay, CTV’s director of creative services and Alanna Barkley-Smith, CTV’s director of on-air promotion. Together their respective teams have backed CTV’s top-rated schedule with creative and provocative campaigns that have been seen and heard by millions of Canadians.

The PROMAX & BDA Awards are recognized around the globe as the ultimate accolade for promotion and marketing professionals and outstanding design contributions in today’s broadcast media industries and electronic media.
The 2005 PROMAX & BDA Awards were presented in New York City on Thursday, June 23, and capped-off the organizations’ annual conference held from June 21-23. Both the PROMAX and BDA Awards are presented to companies and individuals whose work is judged by a panel of promotion and marketing professionals using three measures: overall creativity, production quality, and results in achieving marketing objectives.
