TORONTO – As the world’s political and economic leaders descend on Ontario next week, CTV has announced that it will combine its news and entertainment platforms to deliver “superior coverage” of the G8 and G20 Summits.
Beginning Monday, CTV and its Toronto affiliate, CP24, CP24 Radio 1050 and CTV News Channel will be dedicated to the hard news surrounding the event, while shows such as Canada AM and ETalk will focus on “lifestyle features” including the fashion of the first wives, what the G8 delegates are doing in Muskoka, and who is cooking their meals.
“As the world is watching Toronto, Canadians will be watching CTV News for unprecedented coverage of the most important meeting of world economic leaders in Toronto,” said CTV News president Robert Hurst, in the announcement. “From CTV’s special coverage inside the wire to original content on CTV.ca, to business analysis on BNN, viewers will get the Canadian perspective on not just the official meeting, but the effects of this meeting on Toronto and Canada.”
