CTV, Global ready U.S. election coverage

TORONTO – As Americans head to the polls Tuesday, both CTV and Global have announced plans for coverage leading up to, during, and following the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election.

Beginning Monday, November 7 and continuing through Wednesday, November 9, Dawna Friesen will host Global’s special America Votes 2016 coverage, anchoring Global National from the U.S. capital at 5:30 PM PT/MT/CT and 6:30 ET/AT. The Global National team is back on the air from Washington late Tuesday evening with live updates into all of Global’s late-night newscasts as the contest is finally decided.

On Globalnews.ca, senior national affairs correspondent Eric Sorensen will host a special live web program on election night, offering viewers instant analysis of the latest results.  The webcast, which begins at 8:00 PM ET on Tuesday, will also be live-streamed on Facebook and YouTube.

In addition, Corus Radio talk stations across Canada will produce an election special with commentary from host Charles Adler. 

CTV’s flagship newscast CTV National News with Lisa Laflamme at 11:00 PM ET will cap-off election night, following live election coverage on CTV News Channel with America’s Choice 2016 starting at 7:00 PM ET, including CTV National News updates airing on CTV throughout the night.

America’s Choice 2016 will also air in its entirety on BNN and live-streamed on CTVNews.ca and the CTV News Go app.  CP24’s election coverage will begin at 8:00 PM ET, and iHeartRadio Canada’s family of news/talk stations across the country will simulcast America Votes, a national broadcast featuring national affairs specialist and Question Period host Evan Solomon; NewsTalk 1010’s Ryan Doyle; and on-air contributor Kevin O’Leary.
