CTV gives Lewis more to do

TORONTO and EDMONTON – Lloyd Lewis has been appointed vice-president and general manager of Access, Alberta’s provincial educational broadcaster.

Effective immediately, Lewis takes on this new role in addition to his existing responsibilities as vice-president and general manager of CTV Edmonton.

At Access, which is owned by CTVglobemedia (it was acquired with CTV’s purchase of CHUM), Lewis will be responsible for the station’s financial performance, staff and facilities on site in Edmonton, sales activity originating in Alberta and community relations. He will also lead the production staff of Alberta Primetime, a daily program slated to launch this fall, says the press release.

Prior to joining CTV Edmonton, Lewis was the promotion manager for CTV Calgary and was responsible for all aspects of news and community promotion. Throughout his 26 years of experience in private television production, operations and management, he has also served as general manager of RDTV Red Deer (now CHTV) and held management positions at CKND-TV (now Global Winnipeg) and STV Saskatoon (now Global Saskatoon).

Access, in partnership with Alberta Education and Alberta Advanced Education, and educational institutions and educators, is the only privately owned and operated provincial educational television service in Canada. With multimedia learning opportunities for learners of all ages, many of the programs are connected to formal courses of study offered by the province’s post-secondary institutions and to the formal objectives of Alberta Education and Alberta Advanced Education. Educational programs make up a competitive broadcast schedule that includes programs for children, documentaries, talk shows and movies and dramatic series. Access also features the ‘A’ line-up in certain primetime hours.
