VANCOUVER – On Monday, CTV British Columbia became the first television station in western Canada to broadcast its news in full high definition.
The station joins CTV National News and a full complement of CTV programming airing in full HD, the station said in a release.
From the field to the studio, local news broadcasts in Canada’s second-largest market, airing weekdays at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. and weekends at 6 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., will all be aired in HD.
"Today’s move to HD makes B.C.’s best and most awarded newscast even better," said Tom Haberstroh, general manager of CTV B.C.
B.C.’s HD signal, identified as "CTV HD West," is transmitted from North Vancouver’s Mount Seymour.
