TORONTO – CTV has developed a “strategic retention strategy” with Rogers Cable that will see 17 of its hit programs become available on a new, CTV-branded channel on Rogers On Demand.
Beginning Wednesday, the CTV content will be available to consumers on Rogers’ channel 100 following their original television broadcast. The deal allows viewers the opportunity to catch up on last week’s missed episode, before next week’s new episode airs on CTV or its /A\ channel’s.
"Almost all of the programs we’ve targeted for the service are serialized, which are often challenging to keep up with in today’s busy world,” said CTV’s SVP of program scheduling Mike Cosentino, in the press release. "We want our customers to enjoy a personal TV experience that allows them to catch-up on their favourite CTV programs, whenever they want.”
Available to its digital cable customers, Rogers On Demand includes a library of more than 4,500 hours of programming.
In related news, the broadcaster has added some of its biggest primetime titles to its own on-line inventory.
New series Flash Forward, The Beautiful Life and The Dr. Oz Show are among 11 new titles joining CTV.ca’s lineup, which also includes some of last season’s favourites such as Grey’s Anatomy, Lost, and The Amazing Race.
