REGINA – Saskatchewan educational broadcaster SCN has received a 31% increase in its broadcaster performance envelope from the Canadian Television Fund (CTF).
SCN’s total envelope for the 2009-2010 fiscal year is $924,944, an increase of more than $200,000 from last year’s $702,344. SCN said it also received a 39% increase in its broadcaster development envelope, from $24,509 to $34,076.
"The increase recognizes SCN’s successful investment in the work of Saskatchewan’s independent producers," said Twyla MacDougall, president and CEO of SCN, in a statement. "Two popular SCN original series, Landscape as Muse and Drug Class, recently won Gemini Awards for excellence in Canadian television. Both programs received investment from SCN’s CTF envelope. That’s the kind of success SCN helps make possible with its CTF envelope, and we’re excited because the increase will enable us to continue to raise production values and attract larger audiences for Saskatchewan produced television programs."
The CTF recently announced that it had upped its program commitments for 2009-2010 by almost 14% over its previous fiscal year to approximately $285 million.
