NEW ORLEANS – During its board meeting yesterday, the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM) elected new Board members and officers and adopted a new strategy focused on the organization’s national programs and co-operative marketing initiatives.
The organization announced it is dropping support for its regional U.S. chapters. The move does not affect the Canadian or other international CTAM chapters.
The national programs CTAM will concentrate on include the Cable Mover programs, Advanced Cable Solutions Consortium, MoviesOnDemand marketing, Business Services Council, CTAM Summit, CTAM Wired Executive Innovation Series, CTAM U. and consumer research.
The 2011 CTAM Board officers are:
• Chair – Sam Howe, executive vice president & chief marketing officer, Time Warner Cable
• Vice Chair – Eric Kessler, co-president, HBO
• Secretary – Wonya Lucas, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Discovery Channel
• Treasurer – Jon Hargis, EVP, marketing and advertising, Cablevision Systems Corp.
The new 2011 directors are:

Besides the wind-down of the chapter support, the CTAM Board set in motion the following actions, to take place over the next two years:
• Re-charter the Network Consumer Marketing Council to more deeply engage participating executives in developing high-level content for national programs, such as the CTAM Summit and CTAM Wired.
• Retire the Telephone Working Group following a successful achievement of their objectives, including contributing toward the growth of the cable landline telephone business.
• Move the CTAM Research & Insights Conference from the spring to the fall Cable connection, beginning in 2012.
“As our industry changes, CTAM must also change to remain a vibrant association,” said Sean Bratches, 2010 CTAM chair and executive vice president, sales and marketing, ESPN. “These decisions demonstrate our commitment to helping grow an even more robust cable industry.”
