CTAM SUMMIT 2010:  Astral, CanWest score Mark Awards


NEW ORLEANS – Astral Media and CanWest Broadcasting were the sole Canadian winners at Monday night’s Mark Awards ceremony at the CTAM Summit in New Orleans.

The awards, which recognize excellence in cable and content marketing, were chosen by marketing and agency executives over four days of judging in Washington, D.C. and New York City.

Astral’s first award fell under the category of ‘Affiliate Marketing/Video’ for its CSR training video for The Movie Network.  It’s second, this time under the category of ‘Program Promotion and Tune-In / TV (Single Promo) for Single Program’, was for a promo called Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures for HBO Canada and The Movie Network.

CanWest Broadcasting picked up an award under the ‘Shoestring Marketing / Single Media’ category for a spot called Weeds Stunt – Please Don’t Smoke The Grass which promotes its popular series Weeds.

Among all content providers, Showtime Networks received the most accolades, picking up 33 of the 202 awards.  HBO followed with 31, while National Geographic Channel won the most for a single, basic cable network with 17.

Cox Communications won the most Mark Awards among cable companies with 15, followed by Comcast with seven.
