TORONTO — CTAM Canada is now accepting applications to attend this year’s CEM@HBS, the cable executive management program at Harvard Business School. Each year CTAM Canada awards a course scholarship to one applicant.
CEM@HBS is described as a world-class management development experience for high potential cable and media executives in an elite business school environment. For one week in June, participants study with top Harvard Business School professors and selected industry luminaries within a curriculum that’s built around detailed case study problems. It is a stimulating, demanding program that challenges minds and invigorates their careers.
Attendees will benefit from an intensive week of thinking and learning focused on business strategy, marketing and management principles that will ready them for the next generation of challenges.
This year CTAM is changing up how applicants can enter to attend CEM@HBS. In addition to writing an essay on the given topic (see below), other forms of creative expression that can be used could include a video, podcast, killer deck or even an interpretive dance (CTAM says they’re not sure they’re joking about that, but we’d definitely embed such a video, should one be sent our way!) — the goal is for applicants to express themselves to the best of their ability and to put some real thought into conveying their message.
Question:
2019 continued to see the introduction of more OTT platform choices for Canadian consumers. Consumers in Canada now have choices such as Netflix, Crave, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and DAZN to name a few. Consumers also have the choice of AVOD platforms such as Tubi, Pluto TV and Roku which also provide content at no monthly cost.
Please discuss content choices in Canada and how players from multiple sides of traditional TV ecosystem can both compete with and leverage these platforms. You should also discuss new OTT platforms around the world and how they might impact Canadian business and consumer choice if introduced in Canada. Your answer can include strategy, pricing, technology, consumer preferences & advertising and it can discuss the transition path for traditional broadcast or distribution companies.
