The CRTC in an April 8 letter has directed Iristel to make payments past due to Bell that the far north telecom provider had been withholding in response to an interconnection dispute between the two companies.
The commission has told Iristel to pay the amounts owed to Bell based on the payment plan proposed by Iristel in a Part 1 application it filed with the CRTC in March. The commission’s requirements regarding these payments have been provided in confidence to Iristel and Bell, and have not been made public.
In addition, the CRTC has directed Bell to refrain from disconnecting Iristel from the services the large telecom currently provides, conditional on Iristel making the directed monthly payments to Bell, until the commission rules on Iristel’s final relief requests.
Iristel’s March 6 request for interim relief came after it received a telephone service disconnection notice from Bell on February 21.
In last week’s letter to the two companies, the CRTC further directs Bell to notify it whether payments from Iristel have been received, within five days of each scheduled payment date.
