OTTAWA – The CRTC cracked down on three more telemarketers Tuesday, levying fines of more than $30,000.
Euro-Seal Window Industries, based in Concord, ON, was charged a $1,000 penalty for each of its 29 violations of the country’s national do not call list (DNCL) rules.
The Commission found that the company made 14 telemarketing telecommunications to consumers whose telecommunications numbers were registered on the DNCL, 11 telemarketing telecommunications to consumers without being a registered subscriber of the DNCL and having paid all applicable fees to the national DNCL operator, two telemarketing telecommunications while not using a current version of the DNCL, one telemarketing telecommunication during which it failed to provide to a consumer a valid call-back telephone number, and one telemarketing telecommunication during which it failed to provide to a consumer a call-back telephone number that connected to a voice mail system capable of taking messages, in violation of the Unsolicited Telecommunications Rules.
A chimney repair and cleaning company in Quebec known as Ramonage Plus was charged $4,000 for two telemarketing telecommunications without being registered with, and having provided information to, the national DNCL operator, and without being a registered subscriber of the DNCL and having paid all applicable fees to the national DNCL operator.
Lastly, The Grocery Group, based in Markham, ON, must pay $2,000 for initiating one telemarketing telecommunication on its own behalf to a consumer whose telecommunications number was registered on the DNCL, and for initiating this telemarketing telecommunication without being a registered subscriber of the DNCL and having paid all applicable fees to the national DNCL operator.
