CRTC asks about capacity for FM station in Selkirk, Manitoba

The CRTC wants to know if Selkirk and its surrounding areas in Manitoba can home an additional commercial FM station.

The regulator, which made the call for comments Monday, received an application from a Kelly Dion to operate that English-language station at 90.5 MHz in the city about 40 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg. It would also serve St. Andrews, St. Clements, and the southern Lake Winnipeg beach communities in the province.

Comments are due September 2.

The city is primarily served by CFQX-FM (104.1 MHz), which delivers country music and is owned by the Jim Pattison Group.
