QUISPAMSIS, N.B. – The Canadian Cable Systems Alliance announced Monday voting is now open for the 2018 edition of Tuned-in Canada: the CCSA Awards. (And, FYI, the CCSA officially becomes the Canadian Communication Systems Alliance on Tuesday. More on that later.)

The awards are a nation-wide, annual competition highlighting the excellent work performed by independent, local providers of internet, television and telephone services across Canada.

Canadians are invited to visit Tuned-in Canada 2018 to cast a vote for nominees in the following five categories:

1.         Best content: community channel programming

2.         Best people: on-camera community channel personality

3.         Best people: celebrating your office hero

4.         Best story: making your community stronger

5.         Best photo: what does connecting Canada mean to your company?

Voting takes place using Facebook authentication and voters can cast one vote per day until May 11th at midnight (Atlantic). The winners will be announced on May 23rd and each will receive $1,000 to donate to a local charity or organization of their choice.

“Member participation doubled for this year’s campaign, and we were so pleased to welcome a wide variety of first-time participants to the contest,” said Jay Thomson, CEO of the CCSA, in a press release. “Nominations were received for members in northern B.C., central Saskatchewan, the Yukon, Labrador, and in big cities and small towns all across the country. Without fail, these stories exemplified the hard work and commitment our members invest in their communities each and every day.”

Judges Greg O’Brien (editor & publisher of Cartt.ca/president of FindTV), Suzanne Lamarre (lawyer at Therrien Couture/former CRTC commissioner) and Matthew Polka (president and CEO of the American Cable Association) recently shortlisted the 20 finalists from a field of nominations submitted by CCSA member companies and their customers.

“We hope Canada will embrace their local nominees and bring out the vote,” said Thomson. “It should be a thrilling ride, so stay tuned.”
