OTTAWA – The Community Radio Fund of Canada has named Derek Stack as its new executive director.
Stack arrives at the CRFC with more than 20 years of experience in non-profit management, primarily in the environmental sector, where he successfully helped to improve the North American regulatory framework for sustainability. In his new role, Stack said that he will diversify funding, strengthen administration, and promote the value of community radio to all Canadians through strategic collaborations.
According to the news release, when asked what makes campus and community radio special, Stack responded “It’s the most democratic communications medium we have. It’s accessible to everyone and bridges huge distances affordably to reach listeners and build communities. Who wouldn’t be excited to foster that?”
Other governance changes at the CRFC include the addition of new Board members Sylvain Lafrance, Ashly Kissman, and treasurer Monique Levesque. CRFC also thanked outgoing directors Anderson Rouse and Martin Théberge.
Since it was founded in 2007, the CRFC has awarded more than $10 million for 433 projects, at 127 different campus and community radio stations.
