CRFC adds staff, new executive director

OTTAWA – The Community Radio Fund of Canada (CRFC) has named Jean Malavoy as its new executive director.

Malavoy, (pictured), comes from the culture sector, where he was most recently the executive director of the Association des auteures et auteurs de l'Ontario français. He was also the founding executive director of the Assemblée de la francophonie de l'Ontario, the executive director of the Théâtre La Nouvelle Scène in Ottawa, and has worked at the Canadian Conference for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council and the Trillium Foundation.

The CRFC also recently hired a second program officer, Aymone Agossou, to help distribute more funding.

CRFC president Jean-Francois Côté said that after years of laying the groundwork, the CRFC was ready to expand, and that the new staff team will help shepherd that growth.
“Campus and community radio stations support their local communities in so many ways”, said Côté, in the announcement.  “We are working to ensure they have funding to further their reach. I’m proud of the team we have put together to do this essential work.”

The CRFC is an independent, not-for-profit funding organization that distributes funds for the development and sustainability of the 175 campus and community radio stations in Canada.
