CosmoGO to be exclusive Canadian distributor of sports streamer Fanatiz

Global media company CosmoBlue Media announced Wednesday its CosmoGO platform will be the exclusive Canadian distribution partner for international sports streaming service Fanatiz.

CosmoGO is the rebranded platform emerging from CosmoBlue Media’s acquisition of the Cineplex Store earlier this year.

This partnership with Fanatiz marks CosmoGO’s entry into sports, with content set to be available to Canadian subscribers later this summer, according to a CosmoBlue Media press release. It also demonstrates CosmoGO’s continued commitment to bring a more diverse range of international content to Canadians, the company said.

Fanatiz, part of Fz Sports, is the largest Hispanic sports streaming platform in the world, featuring the best soccer and sports from South America and Europe, the press release said.

“CosmoGO’s partnership with Fanatiz is an exciting first step into the world of sports, catering to passionate Canadians of both widely popular and niche sports,” said Tanuka Roy, general manager of Toronto-based CosmoBlue Media Canada, in the press release. “With sports joining our line up, CosmoGO is gearing up to become the go-to home for fans looking for the world’s best entertainment all in one place, and this is just the beginning.”

Prior to joining CosmoBlue Media last fall, Roy was chief operating officer at Super Channel and previously served as associate director of digital and OTT services at Bell Media.

“With sports being the newest addition on CosmoGO, it joins a slate of thousands of theatrical releases from blockbuster hits to international independent films and jazz from around the world,” CosmoBlue Media’s press release said. “CosmoGO is poised for significant expansion in Canada, with an ambitious slate of offerings on the horizon, and much more to be announced soon.”

After its acquisition of the Cineplex Store this spring, CosmoBlue Media confirmed content deals with major studios, including Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, Paramount, Sony Pictures Entertainment, NBCUniversal, Lionsgate, Amazon MGM and Elevation Pictures.
