CosmoBlue Media announced Wednesday its Canadian streaming service CosmoGO is launching its pay-per-view (PPV) offering with exclusive and live sports events from Brazil.
This follows the September launch of CosmoGO’s transactional video on demand (TVOD) service in Canada.
To launch its upcoming PPV lineup, CosmoGO on Oct. 25 and 26 will stream live two Campeonato Brasileiro Série A (Brasileirão) soccer matches as well as major MMA events for free, in partnership with Fanatiz, the international sports streaming platform bringing Latin American soccer to Canadians, and SFT Combat, Brazil’s top MMA and Xtreme sports destination, CosmoBlue said in a press release.
“This is a major milestone for CosmoGO,” said Tanuka Roy, general manager of CosmoBlue Media Canada, in the press release. “We’re thrilled to launch PPV in Canada with world-class live sports programming, and even more excited to make these inaugural events free for fans nationwide. This is just the beginning of our expansion into premium live sports.”
Canadian subscribers to CosmoGO will be able stream live the Brasileirão league match between Fortaleza Esporte Clube and Clube de Regatas do Flamengo on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 6:30 p.m. ET, and the match between Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras and Cruzeiro Esporte Clube on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
In addition, CosmoGO has secured the exclusive Canadian rights to Outubro Rosa 8, the world’s only annual all-women’s MMA event dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness Month. CosmoGO will stream live the preliminaries from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 25, followed by the main-card events from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. ET.
The main event features Brazil’s Bianca Sattelmayer, the current SFT strawweight champion, against Uruguay’s Xiomara “La Pit Bull” Piriz, a top-ranked Latin American contender. The co-main event features former SFT strawweight champion Pamela Mara against Nawira Ferreira.
In addition to CosmoGO’s PPV and TVOD services, CosmoBlue Media has previously said the platform will expand with further options such as subscription video on demand (SVOD) and advertising-based video on demand (AVOD) offerings in the coming months.
