CosmoBlue Media announced Tuesday the official launch of CosmoGO’s transactional video on demand (TVOD) service in Canada following the global media company’s acquisition and rebrand of the Cineplex Store earlier this year.

The upgraded CosmoGO platform “delivers the latest movies and series at your fingertips, available to watch anytime, anywhere, on all your favourites devices,” reads a CosmoBlue press release.

With a refreshed interface and improved discovery features, CosmoGO offers an expansive library of more than 10,000 titles from around the world including Hollywood blockbusters, indie gems and rare finds, the release says. Payment options include single rentals and purchases and bundle options.

“CosmoGO marks the beginning of a bold new chapter for Canadian audiences,” Tanuka Roy, general manager of CosmoBlue Media in Canada, said in the press release. “This launch is just the start, and over the next few months, we’ll roll out options, including Pay Per View (PPV), Subscription Video on Demand (SVOD), and Advertising-based Video on Demand (AVOD) to become a complete multi-platform destination for film, TV, sports, concerts, and live events.”

In June, CosmoBlue Media announced CosmoGO will be the exclusive Canadian distributor of Fanatiz, a premier international sports streaming platform. It has also announced an exclusive Canadian distribution deal with global streaming platform Oh! Jazz and content deals with major studios, including Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, Paramount, Sony Pictures Entertainment, NBCUniversal, Lionsgate, Amazon MGM and Elevation Pictures.

CosmoBlue Media’s press release says CosmoGO is rolling out “a multi-layered marketing strategy designed to maximize awareness, early adoption, and sustained engagement.” Initial digital marketing efforts will target the platform’s existing customer base, with additional media deployed across social media and digital advertising networks. As additional services roll out in the coming months, including SVOD, PPV and AVOD, CosmoGo will expand to out-of-home activations and enhanced digital advertising, spanning media from mobile, theatres, websites and video walls in high-traffic locations, CosmoBlue Media said. The strategy will also include promotional partnerships with leading media services, to amplify reach and engagement, it added.

CosmoBlue Media’s expansion into Canada is part of a larger global strategy, building on a content portfolio that spans more than 250 million households in over 100 countries, according to the press release.
