Corus to run iVillage Canada

TORONTO – Corus Entertainment announced today the company has entered into a partnership with NBCUniversal to operate iVillage Canada, and to represent Canadian advertising inventory on the iVillage network sites.

This marks a shift for the women-focused web brand in Canada, which had been operated by Rogers Media after a similar partnership announcement in May of 2011.

“The addition of iVillage to Corus’ robust offerings of specialty channels, websites and research aimed at women bolsters Corus’ leadership position in the delivery of content and advertising solutions to the coveted female demographic across multi-media platforms,” reads Wednesday’s Corus release.

iVillage offers women a place to connect, share advice and engage in conversations on topics from parenting, health, entertainment, style, food, living and relationships and iVillage.ca will continue to offer audiences its successful original content, while integrating new material from Corus’ other media properties such as W Network and CosmoTV into the site, reads the release

"iVillage affords Corus and our clients expanded opportunities for high-impact, customized sponsorship and advertising solutions that complement our current array of advertising offerings for women. This partnership solidifies our commitment to deliver premium content and audience engagement opportunities across platforms,” said Maria Hale, vice-president, head of digital and content distribution, television, Corus Entertainment in the release. “We are delighted to partner with NBCU on yet another innovative business opportunity and look forward to working with the strong iVillage team.”

“We’re thrilled to partner with Corus to expand iVillage Canada’s content offerings, as well as to deepen NBCU’s existing relationship with the company,” said Lulu Phongmany, director, business development, NBCUniversal. “Corus is the perfect complement to iVillage as we continue to build our international business and engage our audiences in new ways.”

Starting February 1, 2013, iVillage.ca will launch the Canadian version of the iVillage Guest Editor Program with popular W Network personalities taking on editorial duties at iVillage.ca for one week each, creating relevant and compelling content. W Network personalities who will participate include Candice Olson from Candice Tells All; Majumder Manor’s Shaun Majumder and Shelby Fenner; and Property Brothers Drew and Jonathon Scott.
