Corus teases arrival of ABC Spark with nested programming blocks

TORONTO – Corus is offering an early glimpse at its newest service, ABC Spark, by previewing two of the channel’s series across its existing services YTV, W Network and CMT (Canada).

Scheduled to launch in late March, ABC Spark is a multiplatform offering featuring original series, movies, and general entertainment programming based on the Disney/ABC Television Group brand ABC Family.

"ABC Family has built their success as a top-rated cable service in the U.S. with seven consecutive years of growth, based on a brand that offers audiences quality shows and movies that reflect optimism, heart and humour”, said Susan Schaefer, VP, head of networks and marketing at Corus, in the announcement.  “As we build towards the March launch of ABC Spark, we are thrilled to be able to give audiences a taste of some of the brand's most popular series, never before seen in Canada."

A one-hour scripted drama, Switched at Birth tells the story of two teenage girls who discover they were accidentally switched as newborns in the hospital.  It will air every Monday night at 9 pm ET/PT on YTV and every Saturday at 12 pm ET/PT on W Network starting January 21.

Viewers will also be able to catch Melissa & Joey, a half-hour comedy starring Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence, from Monday to Friday at 8:30 pm ET on CMT starting January 16.
