TORONTO — Not usually in the business of flogging DVDs, Corus Entertainment issued a press release Monday to announce the fifth season of Outlander — a hit on W Network last spring — will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on September 15 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Canada.
Based on the best-selling books by Diana Gabaldon, the Outlander television series follows the story of time-travelling combat nurse Claire Randall and Scottish warrior Jamie Fraser, who in season five have been transported to colonial America just before the American Revolution.
According to PPM data from Numeris, the fifth season of Outlander was a top five specialty entertainment program this past spring among total viewers and for all core demographics on W Network, says the Corus news release.
The season five Blu-ray and DVD includes four all-new “Outlander Untold” scenes, a blooper reel, two featurettes, and other content. The Blu-ray will also include 16 deleted scenes, writer and producer commentaries, and two new behind-the scenes featurettes.
Outlander is produced by Tall Ship Productions, Left Bank Pictures, and Story Mining and Supply Company, in association with Sony Pictures Television. The series is executive produced by Ronald D. Moore, Matthew B. Roberts, Maril Davis, Toni Graphia, Jim Kohlberg and Andy Harries.
Season six of Outlander is scheduled to premiere on W Network in 2021.
