Corus partners with MS Society for new podcast

TORONTO — Corus Entertainment’s Curiouscast podcast network has partnered with the MS Society of Canada to create a new podcast called This is MS which will debut May 21.

The podcast aims to demystify one of the least understood diseases in the world, multiple sclerosis (MS), and will feature inspirational stories from those living with the illness, including the podcast’s host, radio personality Andrea Dunn (pictured). Diagnosed at 31, Dunn — the afternoon host on Corus’ London, Ontario rock station FM96 — will guide listeners through the triumphant stories of guests, both young and old, who have persisted through the disease she knows all too well herself.

Canada has one of the highest rates of MS in the world, with more than 93,000 Canadians having the disease, according to Statistics Canada research quoted in the news release. MS is an autoimmune disease of the central nervous system and causes damage to nerve cells, which disrupts the nervous system’s ability to transmit signals, resulting in a range of potentially debilitating symptoms.

“MS is a disease that has affected millions of people globally yet most of us know very little about it. I wanted to create a podcast to provide a better understanding of one of the most misunderstood diseases in the world,” said Dunn, in the news release. “I want more people to know what life is really like with MS and we’re going to do that by telling the incredible personal stories of those who have persevered with the disease, and never let it define their lives.”

This is MS will launch Thursday, May 21 on all major podcast platforms, with new episodes released every two weeks after its debut.
