Corus launching smart phone app for syndicated content

TORONTO – Corus Radio is offering some of its syndicated content free of charge to mobile users who have BlackBerry and Windows based devices.

Starting next Monday, listeners can download the ExploreMusic version of the smart phone application Viigo, which will include a new show and web portal about musical discovery and exploration hosted by industry veteran Alan Cross.

“This is another great opportunity for ExploreMusic fans to connect with Alan directly,” said David Huszar, VP and GM of Corus interactive and integrated solutions, in the announcement. “Given the popularity of ExploreMusic.com and its daily radio show, this interactive element is part of our ongoing strategy to connect our listeners with our hosts and offer our audiences refreshed content on a minute-to-minute basis.”

Along with ExploreMusic, Viigo already offers Corus Entertainment brands AM640 Toronto Radio, Q107 (Toronto), 102.1 the Edge (Toronto), CKNW AM 980 (Vancouver), 630 CHED (Edmonton), AM900 CHML (Hamilton), AM 770 (Calgary), CJOB 68 (Winnipeg) and iNews880 (Edmonton) to its users.

The ExploreMusic Viigo build will be available for download at www.getviigo.com/exploremusic on August 17.
