Corus helps Kin Community to fund new content, global growth

TORONTO and SANTA MONICA, CA – Corus Entertainment has helped lifestyle digital media company Kin Community to raise $13.5 million in new funding earmarked for new content production, distribution, and continued global expansion.

Kin Community has over 170 million followers across social platforms and generates more than 600 million video views monthly thanks to a creator community that includes well-known lifestyle names such as Rosanna Pansino (Nerdy Nummies), Hannah Hart (MyHarto), Jenn Im (Clothes Encounters), Lauren Riihimaki (LaurDIY) and Rachel and Byron Talbott. 

Corus and Kin Community entered a partnership in 2014 to open Kin Canada, which has signed fast-growing creators like Yolanda Gampp (How To Cake It), Rachel Cooper (Rachhloves) and Lauren Toyota (Hot For Food).  It has also secured dozens of brand partnerships with advertisers including Motrin, McCain, Baskin Robbins and Banana Boat.

With the new funding and additional partners in place, we expect to see this strong growth trajectory continue both in Canada and abroad.”  

Kin’s new funding will be used to increase original content production and distribution across social, OTT and traditional media platforms; invest in global sales, marketing and partner management infrastructure; and to expand in to new markets including Australia, New Zealand and the UK.
