Corus greenlights and renews 35 shows across specialty networks


TORONTO — Corus Entertainment today announced its original content for 2021/22 includes 35 newly greenlit and renewed series across its portfolio of specialty networks and streaming platforms.

“Corus’ ongoing commitment to Canadian content and creators continues with this new wave of greenlights and renewals featuring a diverse mix of original lifestyle, factual, and children’s series, from Corus and its production powerhouses, Corus Studios and Nelvana,” said Colin Bohm, executive vice-president of content and corporate strategies at Corus Entertainment, in a press release.

Corus Studios is producing eight new series and 13 returning shows which will debut across Food Network Canada, HGTV Canada and History. Nelvana has greenlit four new animated series and one returning show with more to be announced soon, which will air on YTV and Treehouse.

Corus also announced its first-ever original series for Adult Swim with Psi Cops (26 episodes x 11 minutes).

HGTV Canada’s lineup will include four new Corus Studios series and six returning favourites, including: Styled (working title, 8 x 60), Trading Up (10 x 60), Gut Job (8 x 60), Scott’s Own Vacation House Rules (4 x 60), Scott’s Vacation House Rules, season three (12 x 60), Island of Bryan, season four (16 x 60), Making it Home with Kortney & Kenny (10 x 60), Rock Solid Builds, season two (10 x 60), Farmhouse Facelift, season two (8 x 60) and Property Brothers: Forever Home, season two (17 x 60).

Food Network Canada’s 2021-2022 schedule will include seven new and returning Corus Studios originals, including Wall of Bakers (10 x 60), Wall of Chefs, season two (10 x 60), Great Chocolate Showdown, season three (8 x 60), The Big Bake, season two (11 x 60), Project Bakeover, season two (10 x 60), Fire Masters, season three (20 x 60) and Big Food Bucket List, season three (14 x 30). In addition, Carnival Eats has been renewed for a ninth season (13 x 30).

History’s new and renewed series include Lost Cars (working title, 6 x 60), Deadman’s Curse (working title, 8 x 60), Black Liberators WWII (1 x 90), BLK: An Origin Story (4 x 60), Rust Valley Restorers, season four (6 x 60) and Big Timber, season two (8 x 60).

YTV’s 2021-22 lineup will include Best & Bester (52 x 11), Super Wish (52 x 11), ZJ Sparkleton (working title, 26 x 22), as well as another year of The Zone, The Zone Weekend and Big Fun Movies, and season two of Kid Food Nation: The Show (8 x 11).

Treehouse will see the addition of The Hamster Show (working title, 26 x 22) and a new animated feature film Toopy and Binoo: The Movie (1 x 80). In addition, Agent Binky: Pets of the Universe has been renewed for season two (52 x 11).
