TORONTO – Corus Entertainment is launching TV Everywhere apps for its popular kids’ channels Treehouse, YTV and Teletoon.
The apps will be available to subscribers of the linear services in Canada on iOS and Android devices starting early next year. The preschool Treehouse app will launch in spring 2015, followed by the YTV and Teletoon apps. The Teletoon app will also be offered in French.
Corus said that the apps will allow kids and families access to hundreds of hours of new and favourite programming, including Dora and Friends, Mike the Knight (pictured), SpongeBob Square Pants and Adventure Time, that can be viewed, downloaded and live streamed anytime, anywhere. Each app has been designed specifically for its core audience, and key features include download-to-go, parental controls and interactive environments.
“As part of Corus’ expanding digital content strategy, these apps will offer viewers an opportunity to sample shows and engage with new content on their portable devices,” said Colin Bohm, VP television, head of Corus Kids, in the press release. “These apps will give our Corus Kids subscribers the flexibility to enjoy some of their favourite shows whether they’re at home or on the go.”
The apps will be made available on more devices and digital platforms to subscribers in the coming months.
