TORONTO – Corus Entertainment will add popular kids entertainment brand Nickelodeon to its suite of child-focused services.
In collaboration with MTV Networks International, Corus will launch a Nickelodeon channel in Canada on November 2, 2009. The agreement includes exclusive Canadian television rights to all current Nick animated programming as well as live action series, and all digital rights for Nickelodeon and related brands.
"We are thrilled to build on our long-standing relationship with Nickelodeon with the launch of this new service, which gives Canadian audiences full access to one of the best entertainment experiences for kids in the world," said Corus TV president Paul Robertson, in the announcement. "Nickelodeon joins Corus Entertainment’s unmatched portfolio of kid-focused brands that offer Canadian children and their families a full range of entertaining options, with something for everyone, on a variety of platforms."
A Corus representative was unable to confirm which BDUs would be launching the new channel, other than to say that it would be available in 2.4 million homes.
