TORONTO – Corus Radio is launching public service announcements and on-air content to encourage listeners to “shop local” and support local businesses in their communities.
The campaign, designed to support communities and local businesses, is rolling out across all 52 Corus radio stations and will continue over the next few months.
Some of the initiatives include local business profiles featuring business leaders discussing encouraging economic news, a campaign encouraging consumers who are considering purchasing a vehicle to take advantage of low interest rates and pricing, and on Corus’ network of news-talk stations, a conscious effort to portray “a balanced approach to covering the economic issues – both positive and negative”.
“The economic health of our country has strong roots at the local level, since money spent at local businesses is reinvested into our communities,” said Chris Pandoff, vice president of Ontario radio, in the press release announcing the initiative. “Radio has always had such a strong connection with its local community and we plan to utilize the power of our 52 radio stations to showcase some of the local businesses that contribute to the vitality of their community and encourage listeners to support them.”
