BANFF – As confab NextMedia closed on Sunday, organizer Achilles Media announced the conference sister event fall’s “Monetizing Digital Content” would be merged with the Canadian New Media Awards and the Canadian Innovation Exchange (CIX) and held in Toronto from November 3 to December 2, 2009. The new merged event has been dubbed Innovation Week.
“Canada is currently facing a critical challenge in transforming its economy in a time of global economic uncertainty and constrained investment. Innovation Week is both a rallying point and a platform to enable the individuals, companies and communities central to the innovation economy to come together and advance their respective agendas,” said Achilles Media CEO Robert Montgomery in a statement.
He added that Innovation Week is about “creating opportunity and lasting value for Canadian ideas and companies by facilitating the inspiration and relationships necessary to flourish in a competitive global market for fresh thinking and technologies.”
Innovation Week will focus on information technology, digital media and clean technologies.
Achilles-organized CIX targeted investors, entrepreneurs and companies concerned with clean tech, IT and digital media. NextMedia deals with monetizing digital media content and technologies. Seven years old, the Canadian New Media Award celebrates Canada’s most successful digital media companies and practitioners in a national competition.
