Copyright bill to be tabled today


OTTAWA – The federal government will table its much-delayed copyright bill today in the House of Commons. Expected to concentrate on new laws on illegal downloading and other online activity, expect the legislation to be a pretty hot potato for Heritage Minister Josee Verner and Industry Minister Jim Prentice. The TV industry also hopes it takes a swing at satellite TV thieves, too.It was originally slated to be tabled in late 2007 and again this past winter, but with pressure from everyone from consumer groups to Hollywood studios, the minority conservative government amended what they had and delayed its debut....
