Cogeco upgrades Internet package, adds ABC Spark to Ontario lineup

MONTREAL – Cogeco Cable has increased its Internet speeds in Ontario after upgrading its current ‘Ultimate 50’ package to ‘Ultimate 55’.

Effective immediately, most of Cogeco’s Ontario customers can access the new package that offers top download speeds of up to 55 Mpbs, upload speeds of 2 Mbps, and a monthly data transfer capacity of 250 GB.  It also includes the company’s full line of security services and modem rental at no extra charge.

‘Ultimate 55’ is priced at $109.95 per month for customers subscribing only to Cogeco’s Internet service, and $99.95 per month to customers who also subscribe to its television or phone service.  There is no extra charge for customers who currently subscribe to the ‘Ultimate 50’ package.

"Upgrading our Ultimate package from 50 to 55 Mbps reflects our constant drive to offer our customers enhanced flexibility, greater choice and more speed”, said Ron Perrotta, VP of marketing and strategic planning, in the announcement.  “Today, the whole family can use the Internet at the same time for online banking, video gaming, shopping or for downloading videos or films, and all with the same Internet account.  Cogeco's Ultimate 55 HSI package is definitely the best choice to meet these needs."

In other company news, Cogeco has added ABC Spark to its digital channel lineup in Ontario.  The family-oriented channel will be available on free preview on channel 148 until April 30, 2012, and then be available through the Digital Family Theme Pack.
