MONTREAL – Cogeco Connexion announced Tuesday expansion of its DOCSIS 3.1 network enhancement program will continue over the next three years and enable the progressive roll-out of its gigabit offering in its Ontario and Québec markets.

This program complements the expansion and upgrade projects already carried out in recent months, says its press release. The company “will continue to augment its node segmentation efforts and drive fibre deeper into its access network,” reads the release. Cogeco’s hybrid fibre-coax network runs from Windsor, Ontario to Gaspé, Québec.

"We are not only convinced that innovation and new technologies are key business drivers, we firmly believe that we must remain focused on our customers' true needs," said Ken Smithard, president, in the release.

"Given the exponential increase in online entertainment usage, the multiplication of connected units and growing home office broadband needs, our residential and business Internet customers' appetite for speed is definitely trending upward," added Daniel Boisvert, vice-president, marketing and innovation
