MONTREAL – Cogeco Cable has added TVA Sports to its programming lineup in Quebec, and is offering the French-language sports channel to its digital TV customers in the province free of charge for one year.
The new channel is available now on channel 88 in SD, and in HD on channel 538. Effective October 31, 2012, TVA Sports will be added to Cogeco’s 'Franco' and 'Selectif' programming packages.
“As soon as we heard the announcement that TVA Sports was going to be created, we expressed a keen interest, and we're extremely pleased to be able to carry it”, said Ron Perrotta, VP of marketing and strategic planning, in the announcement. “In order to give our customers the opportunity to discover TVA Sports, we decided to offer it free of charge to all of our digital customers for an extended period of one year."
In other company news, Cogeco Cable rolled out its 'Turbo 20', 'Ultimate 30' and 'Ultimate 50' high speed Internet packages in Niagara Falls and St. Catharines, Ontario.
The new 'Turbo 20' package, which offers a download speed of up to 20 Mbps, upload speeds of up to 1.5 Mbps and a monthly data transfer capacity of 80 GB, is available at a promotional price of $44.95 per month for 12 months for customers who also subscribe to the company’s television and/or home phone services. Its standalone price is $54.95 per month for 12 months.
For customers who subscribe to more than one Cogeco service, 'Ultimate 30' is offered for $59.95 per month ($69.95 on a standalone basis), and offers speeds of up to 30 Mbps for downloads and up to 2 Mbps for uploads with monthly data transfer capacity of 175 GB.
The 'Ultimate 50' is available for $99.95 per month ($109.95 on a standalone basis), and offers speeds of up to 50 Mbps for downloads and 2 Mbps for uploads with a monthly data transfer capacity of 250 GB.
Cogeco said that the three packages include its full suite of security services and modem rental at no extra charge, and will continue to be rolled-out gradually across its territory.
