Cogeco launches phone service in Steeltown

MONTREAL – Cogeco Cable launched its Digital Phone service to most of its Hamilton region today.

“Like the residents of Burlington, Oakville, Windsor and Kingston, Ontario, and of Trois-Rivières, Drummondville and Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec, the majority of Hamilton residents will be able to enjoy this appealing offer, starting today, whether or not they already subscribe to a Cogeco Cable service. Service will be extended gradually to the rest of Hamilton city homes and will continue to be rolled out to most cities in Cogeco Cable’s territories by the end of 2006,” says the press release today.

Cogeco is the third Hamilton cable company to launch voice over IP phone service as both Mountain Cablevision and Source Cable launched VOIP-delivered phone service earlier this year.

Hamilton residents can buy Cogeco Digital Phone starting at $54.99 per month. For those with high speed Internet or cable television, the service is $49.99. Customers already subscribing to two Cogeco Cable services other than Digital Phone service will only pay $44.99 a month.

The five calling features included in the package are: voice mail, call display, call waiting, visual call waiting and call forwarding.
