Cochran replaces Crocker at CBC Maritimes

HALIFAX – Andrew Cochran has been named the new regional director for CBC Television in the Maritimes.

A Halifax native, Cochran is a Halifax native "with a national and international record of achievement in all aspects of electronic media," said a communiqué from executive director of regional programming for CBC English Television, Fred Mattocks.

“Andrew Cochran has an impressive track record as an innovator, producer and leader, as well as a committed member of the Maritime community. Maritime Television has a track record of program excellence in service of its communities. This is a very good match.” said Mattocks.

Cochran has worked for Canada AM and the CTV National News for CTV and, for CBC, the long-running international hit children’s series, Theodore Tugboat. Other productions for the CBC include the family movie and subsequent series, Pit Pony, the children’s series, Blizzard Island, the prime-time documentary special Space for Four, and the network public affairs series, The Medicine Show, as well as a variety of performance specials.

His international operating experience includes productions for PBS, Discovery Channel, CNN, BBC, ZDF, as well as several other broadcasting and distribution enterprises. He lectures in Entertainment Law and Information Technology Transactions at Dalhousie Law School "and he is well known and respected across the country for his ground-breaking work in online media," said Mattocks.

Cochran replaces Ron Crocker, who retired from the CBC earlier this month. CBC Television for the Maritimes includes broadcast stations in Halifax, Fredericton, and Charlottetown specializing in service to communities in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
