ATLANTA — CNN announced yesterday its new CNN+ subscription streaming service, offering global news, information and lifestyle content, will debut in Q1 2022.
A CNN/WarnerMedia spokesperson confirmed today in an email to Cartt.ca, CNN+ will initially focus on the U.S. market.
“CNN+ will be a U.S.-only product at launch and grow and expand from there over time,” wrote spokesperson Emily Kuhn in the email.
“CNN+ will feature original, live, on demand and interactive programming as a standalone direct-to-consumer service with offerings that are separate and distinct from CNN, CNN International, HLN and CNN en Español linear TV channels,” according to CNN’s press release.
At launch, the streaming service will offer eight to 12 hours of live, daily programming “offering topical deep dives and lifestyle content from some of CNN’s most prominent talent, as well as several new faces,” reads the press release. A community component will be available “for fans to connect directly with anchors and experts in real-time conversations about the issues that matter most to them.”
CNN+ will also launch with a library of non-fiction, long-form programming including past seasons of CNN original series and films, such as Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy, This is Life with Lisa Ling, and United Shades of America with W. Kamau Bell.
New original series and films will be developed for CNN+, which will be unveiled later this year, says the release.
