TORONTO – The organizers of Canadian Music Week today announced the co-chairs for CMW 2014: Elliott Lefko, vice-president of Los Angeles-based Goldenvoice Concerts; CTV music correspondent and music industry PR veteran Eric Alper; Jim (JJ) Johnston, president and CEO of JJIMS Inc.; and Shauna de Cartier, founder of Six Shooter Records.
Lefko, who books concerts for Goldenvoice in southern California, Alaska, Hawaii and Canada, has promoted tours for Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, Morrissey, The Foo Fighters, Tegan And Sara, City & Colour, The Tragically Hip and Hayden.
Regarded in Canada as an authority on music, Alper is a regular contributor to several TV and radio programs. He has also been named to Billboard Magazine, Paste Magazine and The National Post’s best on social media. He is also director of media relations and label acquisitions for eOne Music Canada.
Before launching JJ launched JJ International Media/Management Solutions in July 2013, Johnston has served as general manager for various Corus and Standard Broadcasting radio stations.He started his career on the air in Kingston at CKLC, and piloted the airwaves at stations such as CFGO, CKLW, CFTR and CITI-FM.
Since founding Six Shooter Records in 2000, de Cartier’s company has released close to 100 albums by artists such as Whitehorse, Amelia Curran, the Deep Dark Woods, the Good Lovelies, Danny Michel and more. She is also board chair for the Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA) and the vice-chair for the Radio Starmaker Fund.
