CMPA tapped for TAP

POTSDAM, GERMANY – The Canadian Media Production Association (CMPA) has been named the new Canadian Presenting Partner for the international co-production training and networking program Trans Atlantic Partners (TAP).

The move means that the CMPA will join the Erich Pommer Institut in Potsdam, Germany and New York-based Independent Filmmaker Project as presenting partners for TAP 2014. The international co-production market Strategic Partners will remain a key component of Module 2 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, continuing to offer TAP producers invaluable access to the world market as part of the annual TAP program.

“We are truly excited by the opportunities to further grow international co-production and co-venture partnerships through this promotional and networking opportunity with TAP,” said CMPA president and CEO Michael Hennessy, in the announcement.  “Exploiting international markets is key to the growth of the film and TV market in Canada, and increased partnerships with European and American producers is central to our strategy.”

TAP offers a unique combination of intensive, hands-on training with effective networking among potential partners, and targeted project feedback from resource trainers.  The program is directed at producers with more than five years of professional experience in the film and television industry who have produced at least one feature film or TV series.
