TORONTO – The Canada Media Fund (CMF) has created a new form for producers to officially record data on gross sales for all television and digital media projects supported in the CMF Convergent and Experimental streams.
As announced last April, when the new guidelines were published, each project funded by the CMF in 2012–2013 must provide a report on gross sales from now on. The purpose is to help the CMF compile statistics on sales concluded nationally and internationally in order to better promote the success of funded projects. The data will also serve for discussions on a potential incentive to stimulate international sales.
The requirement applies to all television and digital media production and marketing projects in the Convergent and Experimental streams, including those that have received only advances or licence fee top-ups in 2012–2013. The new guidelines are not retroactive and do not apply to projects funded prior to the current year.
Producers are asked to submit sales reports for their projects using the form provided for this purpose. It must be submitted to the Compliance and Collection department of the CMF Program Administrator/Telefilm Canada (CMFPA) at the address cc-cr@telefilm.ca no later than April 1, 2013.

CMF says its working to develop a new streamlined report format that will encompass both the gross sales report (for all CMF funded projects) and the exploitation report (for projects with CMF’s investment). The new report will be released at a later date.
