
TORONTO – The Canada Media Fund (CMF) says its program budget helped trigger more than $1.3 billion in production volume in 2011/12, according to its just-released online annual report that outlines its role in shaping Canada’s creative economy and digital future.
“The Canada Media Fund achieved unprecedented funding levels that enabled us to build on the previous year’s successes and to continue to provide valuable and measurable support to Canada’s television and digital media industry,” said Valerie Creighton, President and CEO in a statement. “The overall program budget dedicated to the creation of Canadian screen-based media in 2011-2012 triggered more than $1.3 billion in production volume.”
As detailed in its annual report, the CMF provided $358 million in funding to a total of 509 television and related digital media projects through its Convergent stream and 90 innovative and interactive digital media projects through its Experimental stream. In addition to its financial support, the CMF says it also continued to lay the groundwork for the dissemination of industry intelligence to its stakeholders.

The annual report provides a complete overview of the CMF’s activities throughout 2011-2012 as well as a summary of industry developments that shaped the year. It contains detailed information on funding results as well as new data on the success of projects funded by the CMF in terms of audience, critical acclaim and international sales.
