CMDC wants to engage your attention

TORONTO – Pay attention, because the Canadian Media Directors’ Council (CMDC) has announced the theme and speakers for its March 27 conference.

The theme is “Pay Attention! New Forms of Engagement”, and will feature an international lineup of speakers, panelists and moderators from virtually all sectors of the media, advertising and communications communities.

Together, they will explore the vitally important issue of getting and keeping the attention of increasingly distracted, media savvy, consumers with relevant products, content and messages.

David Lubars, chairman and chief creative officer, BBDO North America will set the tone with his morning keynote address.

Other individual speakers sharing their experience and expertise will include Scott Paterson, chairman and CEO of JumpTV; Wade Oosterman, president, Bell Mobility and Bell Distribution Inc. (BDI) plus chief brand officer, Bell Canada; digital visionary, Jeff Cole, director, Centre for the Digital Future, USC Annenberg School for Communications; Steve Ridley, CEO, Americas Kinetic Worldwide; and Dominic Proctor, CEO Mindshare Worldwide.

Newspaper veterans Martin Newland, past editor of both London’s Daily Telegraph and Canada’s National Post along with Jagoda Pike, publisher, The Toronto Star and president, Star Media Group, will give their perspectives on the future of newspapers, and then join columnist/broadcaster Michael Vaughan for a round-table discussion.

A similar format will first feature a presentation by Charlie Crowe, publisher, Cream Magazine and founder, C Squared Communications.

Crowe will then moderate an international media management panel comprised of Martin Cass, executive vice president, Carat Americas; Pierre Delagrave, president, Cossette Media, Research and Interactive and Vice Chairman of Columbus Media International; Mauricio Sabogal, CEO, OMD Latin America; Ashutosh Srivastava, CEO Mindshare Asia Pacific; and John Taylor, Worldwide Director of Client Services, ZenithOptimedia Group.

“The CMDC prides itself on presenting the best-attended and most thought-provoking single-day advertising conference in Canada, if not North America,” said conference co-chair, Lorraine Hughes, president, OMD Canada. “This year’s event will most certainly live up to that reputation.”

“Pay Attention! New Forms of Engagement” takes place on Tuesday, March 27 in the John Bassett Theatre of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Full registration, including lunch, is $495 with an Early Bird fee of $425 for those registering prior to February 28.
