PRINCE RUPERT, B.C. – CityWest has sold its analog cable TV system in Stewart, B.C. to Sienna Networks, a wireless communications service provider based in Terrace, the companies announced Tuesday.
With the deal, Sienna will take over all of CityWest’s current TV subscribers in Stewart on November 1, 2017. Financial details were not disclosed.
“We have been looking for the right buyer for a while, and we’re happy that we’ve found a company that prides itself on being a part of the North, as well as valuing customer service to a high degree,” said Chris Marett, CEO of CityWest in the press release. Stewart, population 494, is right on the border of Alaska and about a six-hour drive from Prince Rupert.
Sienna will also be offering wireless Internet and VoIP phone services in the community, which will be bundled up with TV, says Rob Chapman, founder and operations manager of the company. “This acquisition allows us to provide customers in Stewart with great services,” he said in the release. “From start to finish, CityWest has been a great company to deal with, and we’re looking to continue their tradition of customer-service excellence.”
Sienna also employs a technician in Stewart, who will maintain the cable plant and offer local service and support.
