PRINCE RUPERT, B.C. – CityWest has now connected over 150 customers to its fibre-to-the-home services in Prince Rupert as it wraps up the first phase of its build.
The fibre build officially launched in February after being announced in May 2017. In addition to offering faster Internet speeds, more HD TV programming, and an improved phone service, the company said the FTTH build will allow it the flexibility to offer more services in the future, like those related to the Internet of Things.
The municipally-owned carrier said that Phase 2 will be ready for installs on June 18. The entire town, which is also CityWest’s biggest market, is scheduled to be built out with fibre within the next 3-5 years.
“That CityWest is undertaking such a tremendous project in our own backyard really shows how far the company has come,” said Bart Kuntz, CityWest’s VP of the outside plant, in the news release. “I’m proud to see the work that the company has undertaken to improve the experience for customers in Prince Rupert.”
