KITIMAT, B.C. – Municipal network operator CityWest decided to celebrate its 10,000th internet customer by giving the lucky subscriber, Raphael Colon-Vonarx, six months of free service to his apartment in Kitimat.
It’s a big milestone for a company that prides itself on being the premium provider of Internet, TV and phone services in Northwest British Columbia, says the press release.
“We’ve been a telecommunications company for the last 104 years, and we’re proud of all our achievements during that time,” says Don Holkestad, CEO. “Even with the lightning-fast pace of change in the industry, we’ve been able to stay on top of emerging trends and provide our customers with great products and services.”
Since 2005, Prince Rupert-based CityWest has invested $15 million in upgrades to its network, $3 million in the last two years alone. That has created a more stable system that can offer higher Internet speeds, high-definition digital TV, and voice.
“More important than our financial investments, however, has been the hard work of everyone in our organization,” says Holkestad. “I’m proud to come to the office each day and work with people who care so much about giving our customers premium services at reasonable prices.
“In the next few months, we’ll be making some exciting announcements about some new projects that will bring our customers even more innovative products. We’re also looking forward to meeting our 20,000th Internet customer in the years to come.”
