PRINCE RUPERT, B.C. – Independent carrier CityWest today announced that its community channel, CityWest Community Channel 10, will be launching in high-definition December 10th.

“Our viewers have asked us for a while when we’re going HD, and we’re happy that the day is finally here,” said Devin Wall, community channel manager. “We’ve been doing testing on the new channel for the last month, and it looks great.”

The first show to be officially broadcast on the new channel will be a hockey game, live from Jim Ciccone Civic Centre in Prince Rupert, as the senior men’s Prince Rupert Rampage take on the Smithers Steelheads.

And the hockey game is just the tip of the iceberg. The community channel will be airing a Christmas campfire to get viewers in the holiday spirit, too. In the new year, the channel will also be bringing some great new content to its viewers.

“We’ve had a fireplace on the channel before, but of course never in HD,” said Wall. “It feels like there will be a lot of ‘firsts’ for us as we roll out the new HD channel – we hope our viewers enjoy the ride.”
