Citytv Toronto to air first Canadian newscasts in HD starting Oct. 2

TORONTO – Citytv Toronto’s news and information shows will start airing in high definition on Oct. 2, something it calls “a Canadian first.” BreakfastTelevision, CityLine, CityNews at Noon, CityNews at Six, and CityNews at 11 will go HD as part of CHUM’s commitment to increase its HD content. CHUM says it sent the first HD signal from a Canadian broadcaster in January 2003. In June 2003, a FashionTelevision Special called The Essence of Haute Couture was CHUM’s first in-house HD production, and the first HD concert in Canada was broadcast on Citytv in June 2003, showing Our Lady Peace live...
