
MONTREAL, CALGARY and VANCOUVER – Citytv stations in Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver will serve up a new local news show come September with the arrival of CityNews at Six at 6 p.m. and CityNews Tonight at 11 p.m. local time, seven days a week.
Parent Rogers Media said Thursday that the one-hour newscasts “will seek out the hyper-local stories that matter most to the city” and debut in all three markets on Monday, September 3.
In Montreal, the new video journalists are Akil Alleyne, Andrew Brennan, Emily Campbell, and Giordano Cescutti.
Kristen Fong, Kendra Fowler, Crystal Laderas, Michael Lumsden, Jonathan Muma and Brittany Rosen will join CityNews Calgary as its new video journalists. The station also announced plans to team up with Rogers Media’s 660 NEWS “to deliver unparalleled multiplatform news coverage of the Calgary area”.
Vancouver’s Citytv station said it is joining forces with all-news radio station NEWS 1130 for multiplatform news coverage of the greater Vancouver area, and announced Ashley Burr, Kyle Donaldson, Travis Prasad, Isabelle Raghem, Tom Walsh, and David Zura as its new video journalists. Rounding out its news team will be the veteran Breakfast Television Vancouver reporters Mary Cranston, Thor Diakow and Greg Harper.
Citytv offers local, urban-oriented, and culturally-diverse content through its seven television stations in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatchewan, Winnipeg, and Montreal, plus the Citytv video app.
