TORONTO – Citytv has launched an app for tablets around its Canada’s Got Talent series in an effort to help build buzz around the show prior to its March 4 debut.
Available now at BlackBerry App World, the Apple App Store and iTunes, the free Canada’s Got Talent app promises show content such as photo galleries, a live chat during every episode, and an interactive ‘At-Home Judge’ component where users may pull up a seat at the judges’ desk. Users can also track the success of each performance in real time as Canadians across the country chime in with their own buzzers. The app complements the show’s interactive website.
“With the creation of this app and the expanded on-line content, we are offering an experience to be shared by all Canadians on any platform at any time,” said Andrea Gagliardi, senior director and general manager of Rogers digital media, broadcasting, in the announcement. “Whether up on stage or at home on the couch, performers and fans alike are connected through the features and content that allow them to engage in and fully embrace this competition.”
Canada’s Got Talent is the largest national talent search in Canadian television history and will feature an array of hopeful stars including comedians, contortionists, impressionists, jugglers, magicians, ventriloquists, dancers and singers. It will air Sundays at 8 p.m. and Mondays at 7 p.m. local time, beginning March 4.
